Privacy
The short version: your choices stay on your device. LocalVote has no accounts, collects no personal information, and never sees what you save.
What stays on your device
When you mark candidates, write notes or build a shortlist, that information is stored in your browser's local storage — on the device you're using, and nowhere else. It is never uploaded to us or anyone else, because there is no server that receives it. Clearing your browser data, or using the app's Reset button, erases it.
No accounts, no personal data
There is nothing to sign up for. We don't ask for your name, email, address or postal code, and we don't have a database of users. Because we never collect personal information, there is nothing for us to lose, share or sell.
Tracking and cookies
LocalVote does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell data to anyone. If we ever add basic traffic measurement, it will be a privacy-friendly, cookieless service that counts anonymous visits without identifying you or building a profile — and we'll say so here.
Links to other sites
Candidate profiles link out to candidates' own websites and social accounts, and to news and public records. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we don't control. Candidate photos may load from the City of Kelowna's official election pages.
Not an official service
LocalVote is an independent project and is not affiliated with the City of Kelowna or Elections BC. For official voter information, see kelowna.ca.
Questions or corrections
Questions about privacy, or something to correct on the site? We want to hear it — email corrections@localvote.ca or info@localvote.ca.
